George Cauthen and a friend where on their way to Adrian, Missouri on August 14, 1934 , they were attacked by 2 robbers which resulted in a fight where George Cauthen took this gun from 1 of the robbers . The other robber shot Cauthen 's friend in the arm . Both robbers escaped but were later captured and sentenced to prison. George Cauthen kept this gun until he died .
